The girl’s mother accused her employer of torture and abuse

A 10-year-old domestic help has been raped allegedly by her employer in Dhaka’s Tikatuli area.

The girl’s mother told Dhaka Tribune that her daughter started working at her employer - a relative of hers - house a month ago.

“They called me a few days back to bring my daughter home. I brought her home to Mirpur’s Monipur area in a frail state.”

The girl was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around 6pm on Wednesday. Later, on-duty doctors transferred her to the hospital’s one-stop crisis center.

Dr Bilkis Begum, coordinator of the One-stop Crisis Centre of DMCH, said: “The girl has been crying since she was brought here and we found symptoms of emotional instability. We will carry out further diagnosis after counseling her tomorrow.”

Meanwhile, the girl’s mother accused the house owners of torture and abuse.

“They tortured and sexually abused my girl while she was at their home. I do not know the name of the householder, but he is a lawyer.”

When contacted, the man’s wife, Ila, also a lawyer, denied the accusation.

“She [the mother] made up the entire story to frame us. The girl is from our village in Barguna. But my husband, whom she is accusing, has been away from home for many days.”
