She was raped allegedly by the driver of an auto-rickshaw and two other passengers
A 20-year-old woman was gang raped while returning from work in Chittagong.
The incident took place at the Chowmuhoni area of Anwara upazila around 8:00pm on Wednesday.
The survivor is currently undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
Dulal Mahmud, officer-in-charge of Anwara police station, said: "The woman works at Karnaphuli Shoe Factory in the Korean EPZ. Like every day, she boarded an auto-rickshaw to return home after work [on Wednesday].
“However, the auto-rickshaw driver and two other passengers gang raped her, and left her on the road in critical condition," he added.
Pedestrians found her and informed her family, and she was later taken to CMCH.
OC Dulal added: "We have already started investigating the incident. Necessary legal action will be taken after collecting detailed information from the survivor, who is in a critical state as she was bleeding profusely after the rape."
