He absconded soon after killing her

A woman has been reportedly hacked to death by her husband in Rayer Bazar area of Mohammadpur, in Dhaka.

The deceased is Sharmin. Police are suspecting the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, as Khokon alias Sumon, her husband, called one of his friends over the phone to take his wife to the hospital around that time.

He absconded soon after making the call.

Sharmin was hacked indiscriminately with a sharp weapon, Mohammadpur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) G Biswas told the Dhaka Tribune.

Police rescued Sharmin from the scene and admitted her to National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Nitor), where the duty doctors declared her dead.

Her body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.

According to police, Sumon is a CNG driver. They are yet to arrest him.
