A 12-year-old madrasa student was gang-raped, and has been undergoing treatment for a week in Moulvibazar of Sylhet
Two teenage girls –who are paternal cousins-were abducted and gang-raped for 20 days in Shiddhirganj upazila of Narayanganj.
Police rescued the girls from the residence of one Selina Akter, and arrested Al-Amin, 22, and Riyad, 25, in Fatullah town early yesterday.
The father of one of the girls filed a case with Shiddhirganj police station on Saturday.
According to the case statement, Al-Amin, and Riyad were making romantic advances towards the two girls. On June 2 afternoon, the duo lured the girls to a rented apartment and raped them on multiple occasions till June 21.
Shiddhirganj police station Inspector Selim Mia said: “The arrested men had confessed before a court on Saturday, and the court sent them to jail.”
Madrasa girl gang-raped in Moulvibazar
A 12-year-old madrasa student was gang-raped, and has been undergoing treatment for a week in Moulvibazar of Sylhet.
The sixth-grade girl’s mother filed a case with Moulvibazar police station accusing Jahid Mia, 30, and Rabbi Mia, 28, on Friday night.
Upon medical test, signs of rape were determined, said police sources.
According to the case statement, on June 15, the duo raped the girl finding her alone in her home. At one point, she was severely injured and became unconscious.
Moulvibazar police station Sub-Inspector Md Imran Hossain said: “The girl is still undergoing treatment at Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital following the incident.
“We are putting utmost importance on investigating the case, and arresting the suspects.”
Family of the accused are local influential people, and they had already threatened the girl’s mother to withdraw the case, said locals.
