A ready–made garments (RMG) worker has been raped in Bhatara area of Dhaka.

The 25-year-old rape survivor was brought to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Tuesday. She was admitted to the One Stop Crisis Centre at DMCH around 3am.

Bhatara police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Bokor Siddique confirmed the matter.

Rustom Ali—a man the survivor was in a relationship with because he was promising marriage—allegedly forced himself on her, ignoring her protests.

Police said the two are RMG workers.

The survivor complained that Rustom video-recorded the incident and threatened to share the recording.

A case has been filed in this regard. Based on the woman’s account police have arrested Rustom.

The OC said: “We have arrested the accused. We are looking into the matter.”
