The rape survivors are undergoing treatment at Chuadanga Sadar Hospital
Two schoolgirls were admitted to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital on Sunday after they were raped in separate incidents in Chuadanga and Jhenaidah districts.
In Jhenaidah, a local doctor raped a 13-year-old schoolgirl in Sejiya area in the district’s Moheshpur upazila, Jhenaidah Assistant Superintendent of Police Mirza Salauddin said.
Moheshpur police station OC Rashedul Alam said they arrested the rape suspect, Saiful Islam.
The rape survivor’s family members said the sixth-grader had fever and went to the doctor for treatment on Sunday morning, where he raped her.
Hearing her scream, locals rushed to the spot, but the doctor managed to flee.
She was later taken to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital.
The hospital’s Resident Medical Officer Shamim Kabir said: “We found evidence of rape after running medical tests on her.”
In Chuadanga, a Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinee was abducted and gang-raped by a group of locals in Nischintapur area, in the district’s Jibannagar upazila.
Jibannagar police station OC Sheikh Goni Mia confirmed the matter, saying: “A man named Sakhawat Hossain Shahid and his friends abducted the girl and raped her.”
Police rescued the girl and arrested Shahid later in the afternoon, he added. The girl was sent to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital.
Chuadanga Sadar Hospital Resident Medical Officer Shamim Kabir said they were running tests on the SSC candidate.
