A young girl has been raped, over three years, allegedly by her uncle in Rajarhat area of Kurigram.
The victim filed a case against her uncle, Hamidul Islam Dulu, 33, on Monday.
According to the case statement, Hamidul Islam Dulu—of Komolojha village of Rotiram upazila of the district—has been accused of raping his wife's 18-year-old niece over three years.
The suspect allegedly blackmailed the teen by threatening to spread videos of her rape on the internet.
The case statement reads that he once impregnated the girl and forced her to get an abortion.
The accused then tried to sabotage a marriage she had agreed to on March 15.
Unsuccessful in doing so, he tried to blackmail the husband and pressured him to file for a divorce.
Under the circumstances, the victim filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Act 2013, against Hamidul, on Monday.
Confirming the arrest, Rajarhat police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Krishna Kumar Sarker said: "The accused has accepted the charges against him. He is to be produced in court tomorrow [Tuesday]."
He added that the police will seek remand for further questioning of the accused.
