The autopsy of Mahfuza was performed on Monday
Forensic report has confirmed that two or more people had strangled Eden Mohila College’s former principal Mahfuza Chowdhury Parveen to death.
Confirming the matter, Head of Forensics at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Sohel Mahmud said the autopsy of Mahfuza was performed on Monday.
“Forensic evidence suggests that the victim was murdered by two or more culprits,” he said.
The victim’s husband Ismat Qadir Gama filed a case with the New Market police station over the murder around 11am, Maruf Hossain Sarder, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Ramna Division, confirmed.
He further said: “Two domestic helps [Swapna, 36, and Reshma, 30,] have been accused in the murder case. The suspects are on the run, and police have launched a drive to arrest them.”
Mahfuza’s body was found by her husband on Sunday night, from her flat in Sukanya Tower located in the Dhaka’s Elephant Road area.
The relatives of the victim revealed that Swapna and Reshma started working at Mahfuza’s home in January. Swapna hails from Kishoreganj, while Reshma hails from Faridpur.
Mahfuza’s husband Ismat Qadir Gama serves as the vice-president of Muktijoddha Command Council.
