Drug trader killed in Rajshahi ‘gunfight’

The deceased has been identified as an accused in 10 cases

A suspected drug trader has been killed in a “gunfight” between two groups of drug traders at Rautha village in Charghat upazila of Rajshahi. 

The “gunfight” took place around 1:45 am on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Fazlul Haque alias Fazlu, 48—son of Wahab Munshi—and an accused in 10 drug cases.

A press release signed by Senior Assistant Superintendent of police Abdur Razzak Khan stated that a team of police rushed to the spot when a “gunfight” started between two groups of drug traders over establishing dominance in the village on Monday. 

The police fired 10 rounds of bullets to bring the situation under control.

The press release added that the drug traders also attacked police, injuring four policemen, including the officer-in-charge (OC) of Charghat Police Station.

Later, police recovered Fazlul's shot body from the spot.

They also seized: a foreign pistol, a magazine, one-round of bullets, and 55 bottles Indian Phensidyl.
