Police also recovered a pistol, three round bullets and two magazines
A suspect accused in multiple cases, including robbery, died in an alleged gunfight with police at Dharmapur in Sadar upazila on Tuesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Shahidul Islam Babul alias Koshai Babul.
Feni Model police station OC Abul Kalam Azad confirmed the matter, adding that the police had received information regarding a robbery in Dharmapur border area and conducted a raid.
The OC said: “Sensing the presence of police, the gang of robbers opened fire. In self-defence, police fired back, causing the gang to fall back and flee the scene. Later, police recovered Babul’s bullet-hit body from the scene.”
Police also found a pistol, three rounds of bullets and two magazines, he added.
The body was taken to Feni Sadar Hospital, and then sent to the morgue for autopsy.
Babul had been a suspect in a total of eight cases, including murder, robbery and arms possession.
