The perpetrators tied up the husband before taking turns in violating the housewife
Police have arrested two out of five men who had raped a woman in front of her husband in Savar, on the outskirts of capital Dhaka, two days ago.
The incident took place at Kaundia village in Aminbazar area around 11:30pm on Friday.
Police caught two — identified as Raihan and Al Amin — of the five perpetrators from Kaundia on Sunday morning during a raid.
Confirming the arrests, Savar model police station’s Sub-Inspector Pran Krishna said the woman was sent to the One Stop Crisis Centre of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for medical tests and treatment.
“We are conducting raids to catch the others,” he added.
According to the victim’s family and police, the woman’s husband owns a grocery shop. He and his wife met Raihan and Al Amin on Friday night to collect the money they owed for buying things from the couple’s store on credit.
An altercation had followed when Raihan and Al Amin refused to pay. At one point, the duo summoned three of their friends and took the couple to a remote area.
Later, they tied up the husband and then took turns in raping the woman before fleeing.
The victim filed a case against the five men at Savar model police station on Saturday night.
