He was arrested from Pallabi’s Muslim camp in the early hours of Thursday by Pallabi police in connection with the incident that took place on November 14, 2018.
The Detective Branch's Additional Commissioner Abdul Baten said that Wasim admitted to committing the crime when he was briefing the press at the DMP Media Centre later on Thursday.
He said three cases were filed in the Paltan police station accusing 90 people of being allegedly involved with vandalizing vehicles on November 14 in Naya Paltan area.
As part of the investigation, police collected CCTV footage from around the area. Based on their intelligence, the police had arrested 13 people before Wasim, he added.
When asked, the police officer said Wasim is a BNP activist, but did not provide any further details as the investigation is ongoing.
