2 cops detained for allegedly stealing smuggled gold

Two gold bars were recovered from the site

Police has detained two police assistant sub-inspectors (ASI) for allegedly trying to steal smuggled gold.

The incident took place at the Navaron intersection of Sharsha upazila, Benapole, on Wednesday, reports UNB.

Sharsha police station arrested Kolaroa police station's ASI Ishak and Patkelghata police station's ASI Mamun Rez; along with two alleged gold smugglers. They are Mamun Reza's brother, Ashik Reza, and Ashim, 32—son of Dudu Mia—from the Dakkhindhor area of Manikganj district.

Sharsha police station Inspector (investigation) Station Sheikh Tasmim Alam has confirmed the matter and said: "We responded to a tip-off. We rushed to the spot and detained the four along with two gold bars."
