In Dhaka, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained a female drug dealer with 30,000 yaba pills.

Mukta Haque, 30, was arrested from Motijheel, Dhaka, on Wednesday, around 10am.

RAB-3 Lieutenant Commander Ashekur Rahman said, after getting a tip-off, a team of RAB-3 conducted a raid in Motijheel area and detained the drug trader.

She was travelling from Gazipur to Dhaka with the yaba pills, he said.

Mukta is currently under interrogation, Ashekur said. Legal actions are being brought against her.

The arrestees are bus driver Zakirul Islam Zakir, 35, from Paschimpara in Ramchandrapur in Shahjahanpur upazila; and his assistant Shwapan Sheikh, 28, from Purbakhapara in Nishindara. Drug trader Zahidul Islam Dulal, 35, fled the scene.

According to Sub-Inspector (SI) of Detective Branch of police (DB) Zulhaz Uddin Robi said: "Dulal, Zakir, and Shwapan are wholesale yaba traders. Zakir and Shwapan are a bus driver and an assistant, respectively. They smuggle drugs by driving picnic buses to different border areas of the country, and later sell them wholesale.

"On Wednesday, they drove a picnic party to Cox's Bazar from Chittagong and returned with 10,000 yaba pills," continued the SI. "Acting on a tip-off, a team of DB police intercepted the bus in front of Akhimoni Hotel, at the Dhunot intersection of Sherpur upazila, around 5:15am."

Although bus driver Zakir, and his assistant Shwapan were captured, the main culprit drug smuggler Dulal escaped, the SI said.

A case has been filed in Sherpur police station against the three accused.
