UK expat killed in Sylhet

Police have visited the spot but no case has been filed yet

A British expatriate has been killed in Sylhet district following a land dispute.

The incident took place on Thursday morning in Kanaighat upazila of the district.

The deceased was identified as Faruk Ahmed, 42, son of Asad Raza of Bayampur village of the upazila.

Officer-In-Charge of Kanaighat police station, Abdul Ahad, confirmed the news.

He said: “Faruk was severely injured after a fight broke out between him and his rival Islam Uddin over a land dispute, in the Satbak area around 6am.

“Faruk was taken to the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, where the doctor pronounced him dead. Later, his body was sent to the forensic department of the hospital for an autopsy.” 

“Faruk resided in the United Kingdom for a long time and came back to Bangladesh three years ago," the OC said.

Police have visited the spot but no case has been filed yet.
