2 killed in Comilla, 1 in Sirajganj
Three suspected robbers have been killed in separate “gunfights” with the Detective Branch (DB) of police and RAB-12 in Comilla and Sirajganj, respectively.
The incident in Comilla occurred around 2:30am on Friday in Titas upazila. The deceased are Al Amin, 30, who hailed from Uttar Maniknagar Village under the same upazila, and Ershad, 32, a resident of Charerpar Village under Burichang upazila.
Confirming the matter, DB Sub-Inspector Shah Kamal Akhand told the Dhaka Tribune: “A DB team, led by Officer-in-Charge Nasir Uddin Mridha, was waiting in the Titas area as part of a raid.
“On a tip off that a team of criminals were gathering near the Narayanpur Graveyard with plans to conduct a robbery, the DB team decided to investigate the location. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the culprits began firing on them, forcing the police to retaliate.”
He continued: “DB police fired 21 rounds of shotgun shells. Seven robbers were detained on the spot. Two among the detainees, Al Amin and Ershad, received gunshot injuries to their heads.
“The injured duo was taken to Titas Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared them dead on arrival. Four DB men were also injured in the incident.”
The detained suspects are Aurangajeb, 50; Milon, 35; Nasir, 27; Shariful, 29; and Abu Mia, 40.
The DB team seized: two guns, four cartridges, three knives, seven masks, and two metal rods from the scene. The bodies of the deceased have been sent to the Comilla Medical College Hospital’s morgue.
According to DB sources, Ershad and Al Amin were accused in nine, and five, theft-related cases—respectively. The detained suspects also have multiple cases against them.
In a separate incident in Ullapara of Sirajganj, a robber was killed in a "gunfight" with RAB-12 on Thursday.

The deceased was accused in at least 10 cases in different police stations, said RAB-12 Special Company Commander, Sirajganj, Additional Police Superintendent Md Sakibul Islam.
Acting on a tip-off, RAB conducted a raid in Paikpara, where Hazrat Ali was shot in the ensuing gunfight. Later, he died on the way to the hospital. Hazrat's accomplices fled the scene.
RAB recovered: two guns, 14 cartridges, a machete, a locally crafted weapon, and three rounds of bullets from the scene.
