3 arrested after hiding yaba in stomach

'They admitted hiding yaba inside their stomach'

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested three yaba traders for hiding the drug in their stomachs from Mohakhali area of Dhaka on Sunday morning.

The drug traders are- Md Asad, 24, Md Shukur Ali, 21, and Md Shafikul Islam alias Shafik, 21.

RAB-1 Commanding Officer Lt Col Sarwar Bin Kashem confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune.

According to Sarwar, acting on a tip-off, RAB conducted a raid in the area around icddr,b Diagnostic Unit at around 9am and arrested the three.

Nothing was found on their body after a primary search, he said. However, their movements raised suspicion among the RAB, upon which they interrogated the three.

"They admitted hiding yaba inside their stomach," said the commanding officer. "Later, we recovered 1,820 pieces of yaba tablets from their stomach."

Sarwar said upon further interrogation, the arrestees confessed collecting yaba from a supplier in Cox's Bazar, which they put in small packets and pushed it up their rectums. They came to Dhaka to sell it at higher prices.

According to RAB, the arrestees admitted they had carried yaba tablets several times in their stomach to avoid getting caught by law enforcement agencies.

Legal actions will be taken against them, said RAB.
