JSS says that UPDF is responsible for the murder

A former activist belonging to Rangamati’s JSS (MN Larma group) has been shot dead by unidentified gunmen.

The deceased is Binoy Chakma, alias Jongli, 45. He was gunned down near Langadu Sadar union’s Dojapara area on Friday morning.

Local sources said they heard gunshots in the area around 7am. Around eight or nine shots were fired.

Another person named Sumet Chakma was also injured in the incident.

JSS’ (MN Larma group) Publicity Secretary, Shudhakor Tripura, blamed their rival group, United People's Democratic Front (UPDF), for the attack.

“Binoy was a former member of JSS. He  has been inactive for some days now. The incident took place when he was on his way to a market from home,” Shudhakor said.

Langadu police station Officer-in-Charge, Ranjan Kumar Shamonto, said a team has been sent to the spot.
