Police has recovered Ukhiya-Teknaf Member of the Parliament (MP) Abdur Rahman Bodi's in-law Akhtar Kamal's body from the Marine Drive in Cox's Bazar. His body bore bullet marks at the time of recovery.
Police also recovered several contraband yaba pills, guns, and several bullets from the scene. Akhtar Kamal, aside from being a Union Parishad member of Sabrang union in Teknaf, is enlisted as a top yaba dealer by the Home Ministry.
According to locals, Akhtar is Bodi's elder sister Shamsunnahar's brother-in-law.
Inspector Monirul Islam, Himchhari police outpost in-charge, said: "After hearing shots from the area, we went to the bridge no 2 of Darianagar on the Marine Drive road. There, we found a bullet-ridden body beside the road.
"We recovered 1,000 pieces of yaba tablets, one LG and four rounds of bullets from the scene as well," said Monirul. "We think he was killed by his opposition party."
Locals later identified the body as Akhtar Kamal's.
