The arrestees are Dalia Khanam, Afroza Khanam, Sarwar and Biplab.
Sources at the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) said the two female passengers boarded a Regent Airways flight from Chittagong when it landed at Shah Amanat International Airport from Bangkok en route to Dhaka in the afternoon.
Based on a tip off, a CIID team challenged the two women on arrival at Dhaka airport at around 5:30 pm, said CIID Director General Dr Moinul Khan.

During preliminary interrogation, the women revealed that the gold bars were handed over to them on the aircraft as it flew to Dhaka.
Later, CIID officials detained Sarwar and Biplab from the airport based on information provided by the two women.
During interrogation, Sarwar and Biplab confessed that they were the owners of the seized gold bars, Moinul Khan said.
Then detained were handed over to Airport police station.
Meanwhile, officials of Dhaka Customs House recovered 10 more gold bars, which were abandoned inside the washroom between boarding bridges 6 and 7 of the international terminal of the airport at around 7:00pm.
