Suspected robber killed in Comilla ‘gunfight'
A suspected robber has reportedly been killed in a “gunfight” with detectives at Choyghoria under Chandina upazila of Comilla district. Shamim, son of Sadequr Rahman of Kashimpur village, died in the “gunfight early Sunday. District Detective Branch (DB) Officer-in-Charge Manzurul Alam: “Acting on a tip-off, we conducted a raid at Choyghoria Bridge area around 3am.” Sensing the presence of the DB police, the robbers opened fire targeting them. In retaliation, the DB police fired back that left Shahim dead. Meanwhile, two police constables were injured in the incident. He said a pipe-gun and two rounds of bullets were recovered from the possession. However, other members of the robber gang managed to flee the scene, said OC Manzurul adding that the body was sent to Comilla Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
