2 Indians arrested with gold at Benapole

Update : 01 Dec 2017, 04:26 PM
Two Indian citizens have been arrested at the Benapole land port on Friday when they were returning to their country with smuggled gold. Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) has identified them as Sanjib Verma and Nurul Haq. CIID Director General Moinul Khan said, acting on a tip-off, they first detained Nurul and recovered four pieces of gold hidden in his shoes. Sanjiv was arrested later on suspicion. They were taken to a local clinic and an x-ray examination revealed the presence of more gold hidden in their rectums. The CIID chief said they were working on recovering the rest of the gold. He declined to divulge further information and said they would later brief the media.
