A Dhaka court has granted police six days to interrogate Abdul Karim, owner of Karim Tower at Kakrail, and his second wife Sharmin Mukta in a case filed over the murders of Karim’s first wife and son.
Judge Kurshid Alam of Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court issued the order on Friday after Ramna police produced the duo before the court with a 10-day remand prayer.
On Wednesday, Shamsun Nahar and Shaon, the first wife and son of Karim, were found dead with their throats slit in a building in Kakrail.

Krishna Pada Roy, joint commissioner (crime) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), said Nahar’s body was found inside a flat on the fifth floor of the six-storey building, while Shaon’s body was found in the stairwell on the fourth floor.
Both bodies had multiple injury marks. A knife was also recovered from the scene, Roy had said.
Another DMP official on Thursday said they were yet to determine the motives behind the double murder, but they suspect the duo might have been killed over family feuds.
