Madrasa teacher brutalises 10-year-old for wanting to spend Eid with mother

Update : 02 Sep 2017, 06:06 PM
Police have registered a case on Thursday night against a madrasa teacher and his associates for torturing a 10-year-old child in Gazipur's Joydebpur upazila. The victim's mother, Monjura Begum, filed the case against Amjad Hossain, 42, a teacher of Pubail Rahmania Orphanage and Madrasa at Nayanipara in Pubail, Basir Uddin, 42, and two or three other unnamed persons for grievously attacking her son. A video clip of the incident, which took place on Wednesday, has already gone viral on the internet. Monjura mentioned that her son Shoeb, who graduated primary school last year, was enrolled in the Hadith course in the madrasa two months ago. She said she last saw him when dropping him off at the madrasa gate on Wednesday afternoon. He was not willing to stay at the madrasa hostel. As soon as she turned around to return home, the boy started running toward her. At this point, Amjad and his associates intercepted Shoeb and began to beat him mercilessly, said Monjura. A local youth who was in the vicinity at the time took a video of the incident on his mobile phone and posted it on the Facebook. When the video went viral, police had no choice but to visit the madrasa to look into the matter. On Thursday afternoon, when the law enforcers went to the madrasa, they found the main gate and the entrance to the hostel locked, according to  Pubail police outpost Sub-Inspector Rafiqul Islam. Amjad and Bashir – the two main accused in the case – had been at large since Thursday, he added.
