According to the complainant, the minor locked into an altercation with his fellow worker Zakirul over cleaning the office room in the morning on July 15. At one point, his coworkers forcefully pumped a large amount of air into his rectum with a vacuum cleaner. Similar incidents of child torture by inserting objects into the rectum have frequently been reported over the last couple of years. A child, Rakibul Islam, was killed on August 13, 2015 when three adults pumped air through his rectum in a garage in Khulna city’s Tutpara area. On July 24, 2016, a 10-year-old boy named Sagar Barman was killed in the same manner at Zobaida Textiles in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj district. And on December 14 of the same year, 17-year-old Md Yamin succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital after being allegedly tortured in the same style by his co-workers at a spinning mill in Narayanganj’s Sonargaon area.
