Police have detained two teenage ice factory workers from Dangipara area of Satkhira Sadar upaizla for allegedly torturing a minor boy by inserting an ice-bar into his rectum.
Satkhira Sadar police station Sub-Inspector Selim Reza held Shamim Hossain, 15, son of Nur Islam from Brahmarpur union, and Nazmul Hossain, 15, son of Shafiqul Islam from Dhulihor union, on Thursday evening.
Dablu Miah, 9, son of Bablu Mia from the same area, used to go to Ashik Super Ice Bar quite regularly to get ice-creams for free.
When Bablu called on the ice factory workers for an ice cream in the afternoon on Thursday, the two teenage workers caught him and inserted an ice bar into his rectum.
Returning home, the boy spoke about the ordeal to his father, who instantly lodged a complaint with Sadar police station.
Police acted promptly and held the two accused teenagers from the factory in the evening.
The tortured boy also underwent medical examination at Sadar Hospital. Fortunately, his injury was not too serious, added the OC.
Police have also held the owner of the ice factory for interrogation.
Similar incidents of child torture by inserting objects into the rectum have frequently been reported over the last couple of years.
A child named Md Rakibul Islam was killed on August 13 in 2015 when three adults pumped air through his rectum in a garage in Khulna city’s Tutpara area.
On July 24 in 2016, a 10-year-old boy named Sagar Barman was killed in the same manner at Zobaida Textiles in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj district.
And on December 14 of the same year, 17-year-old Md Yamin succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital after being allegedly tortured in the same style by his co-workers at a spinning mill in Narayanganj’s Sonargaon area.
