It has been a year since the Kallyanpur militant den raid where 9 militants were killed and one escaped during "Operation Storm 26" that was conducted on July 26, to find the planners of the Holey Artisan attack.
It was discovered that some of the militants at the den were connected to planning the Holey attack while others were planning more attacks on areas densely populated by foreigners in Dhaka and Narayanganj, police said.
“They had almost finished their preparations for three simultaneous attacks in Dhaka and Narayanganj. We found out that they had already rented a place in Narayanganj to carry out the attack,” said Chief of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit Monirul Islam.
CTTC Chief Monirul said they had no further information about the escaped militant Iqbal, adding: “We think he may have died in the subsequent militant drives that were conducted.”

There has however been no charge sheet filed a year after the drive. The CTTC chief said that they had just received the postmortem report a week ago of the nine militants, one of whom is yet to be identified.
“The investigation is at its final stage and we will submit the charge sheet soon,” said CTTC’s Monirul.
So far five people have been arrested in connection to the case --- Rakibul Hasan Rigan, Salauddin Kamran, Engineer Abdur Rouf Prodhan, Abul Kashem alias Boro Hujur, Ahmed Azwad Imtiaz Talukder alias Omi. Three of them, Rigan, Kamran and Engineer Pordhan have all given their confessional statement under Section 164.

“Among the fugitive militants, we have information that Junayed Khan is out of the country, Ripon and Khaled were outside of the country during Operation Storm 26. So far, in the investigation, we have not been able to confirm their involvement.
“We have however, found the involvement of Sohel Mahfuz alias Hatkata Mahfuz who was recently arrested. He was shown arrested in the case of the Kallyanpur incident and the court has granted us a fresh three-day remand period to question him further,” said CTTC chief.
