Two alleged hijackers shot in Azimpur gunfight with RAB

Two alleged hijackers were shot during a gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in the Azimpur area of Dhaka on Tuesday afternoon. Law enforcement officials said a group including the two was attempting to hijack a car by providing false identities as members of police’s Detective Branch when the incident occurred. The injured Mosarraf Hossain, 40, and Monir Hossain, 35, were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital at around 4pm. Sensing the presence of law enforcement, the hijackers opened fire and RAB responded in kind.” Though the two injured members of the gang were arrested, others managed to flee the scene, he added. Two firearms were seized from the possession of the detainees.
