A Chinese couple was mugged by unidentified miscreants in Chittagong city’s Chowmuhony area on Tuesday morning. A bag was snatched from Li Li Lue [the wife] which contained Tk200,000, $1000 dollars and a laptop. The couple has filed a case against the criminals under Chittagong's Double Mooring police station. No arrest has yet been made in connection to this incident. The station’s OC, AKM Mohiuddin Selim, confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune. “The couple came to Chittagong from Dhaka in the morning. They went to Chowmuhony area to stay at a residential hotel. But they soon left the premises because they did not like the hotel room offered to them. Later, when they on a rickshaw en route to Dewanhat area, they got mugged,” said the OC. Police are now trying to arrest the muggers. On June 22, a US national, who teaches at Asian Women University, was also mugged in the same way in the city’s Khulshi area. A team of detectives later arrested the mugger and seized the auto-rickshaw from Chandgaon area on the following day.
