Another case filed over Langadu attacks

Update : 11 Jun 2017, 10:53 PM
Another case has been filed for the series of arson attacks carried out in at least three localities of Langadu following the death of a Bangali for-hire motorcycle driver. Kishore Chakma, one of the arson attack victims, filed the case with Langadu police station against 300 people on Saturday night. He named 98 among the 300 accused. Rangamati Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Md Safiul Sarwar confirmed this to the Dhaka Tribune. Police recovered the body of for-hire motorcycle driver Noyon on June 1 from Dighinala. The settlers, blaming the indigenous people for Noyon’s death, set fire to houses and shops of the Adivasi people on June 2, killing a 75-year-old woman in the arson attack. Police have so far arrested seven Bangalis for their suspected involvement in the attacks.

A half-day hartal enforced by PBCP in Bandarban district from Saturday morning over the same issue also passed off peacefully.
