Update : 24 May 2017, 12:58 AM
A Hindu man was left severely injured in Muksudpur upazila of Gopalganj after he was set upon by a neighbour and up to six other men in an apparent dispute over land. After the assault in Baghat village, a severely injured Bikas Majumdar was carried to hospital by local helpers before being transferred to Faridpur Medical College Hospital (FMCH). Prof Dr Anadi Ranjan, of the orthopaedics department at FMCH, said the 50-year-old remained in an “unstable” condition. “There are serious injury marks to different parts of his body. The patient might be paralysed, even if he recovers somewhat,” he said. Younger brother Prasen Majumdar claimed Bikas was attacked on his way to Kanuria Bazar in Muksudpur on May 19 by his neighbour Dulal Sheikh, and “five to six” other men who wanted to grab his properties. Prasen said Dulal had bought four decimals of land owned by Bikas’ family and other stakeholders. Prasen also accused Dulal of felling their trees planted in and around their house. Prasen lodged a case with Muksudpur police station regarding the incident. The accused threatened from the accused to withdraw the case. Jafor Mia, officer-in-charge of Muksudpur police station, said they were trying to arrest the accused persons .
