Rape accused and passport missing from Gulshan home
Police on Tuesday noon raided the residence of Shafaat Ahmed, who stands accused of raping two university students. Police did not find Shafaat at home. They searched the house for him and his passport from 11:30am to 12:55pm. The home, belonging to Shafaat’s father Dildar Ahmed – owner of Apan Jewelers – also could not produce Shafaat’s passport.

Banani police Sub-Inspector Milton Dutta said the police will continue looking for him elsewhere. On May 6, two young women filed a case with Banani police against Shafaat Ahmed, Nayeem Ashraf, Shadman Sakif, and Billal for allegedly raping them on March 28 at The Raintree Dhaka Hotel in Banani after a birthday party.
