An eight-year-old domestic-help was rescued by police on Sunday after she was physically abused by her employers for months.
She was rescued from the home of Payel, a computer engineer and her family living in Darus Salam area.
The child was physically assaulted for six months, said the police.
“We were informed by Human Rights Review Society about what was going on and conducted the drive to rescue her today.
“We have seen marks and bruises all over her body. We understand she was abused regularly having worked for the family for six months,” said Sub-Inspector Mahesh Chandra Singha.
Human Rights Review Society spokesperson Anwara Khanam Bonya said: “Having received information about the girl being abused by the family we immediately informed the police.”
Police arrested the employer Payel and the child has been sent to the hospital for necessary medical attention.
Police are in the process of finding her parents and taking their consent before proceeding with legal actions against the family.
