Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said Mufti Hannan's clemency plea has been rejected by the president.
According to the Bangla Tribune, the home minister confirmed it through the mobile phone.
The minister said, "The president has dismissed his appeal. Now we will take action according to the penal code.”
Mufti Hannan, leader of the militant group Harkat-ul Jihad al-Islami Bangladesh (HujiB), was sentenced to death on March 22. He has planned or at least been involved in nationwide bomb blasts that have killed at least 100 people over seven years.
