Probe to be conducted into allegations against Katiadi OC
A probe committee has been formed to look into allegations of bribe and misuse of power made against Kishoreganj’s Katiadi police station Officer-in-Charge Md Ahsan Ullah. Police sources say that on Monday, Additional Superintendent Md Jamal Uddin was asked to look into the allegation that the OC had released the accused of an abduction case after tearing up the related page from the FIR book. The probe report will be submitted to the superintendent of police as soon as possible. When contacted, ASP Jamal Uddin said: “I will submit the report after completing the probe.” Earlier, on January 21, Asad Mia of Bir Noakandi village filed a written complaint with the Katiadi police station stating that Robin Mia would daily harass his 14-year-old daughter on her way to school and that around 4pm that day, Robin and some of his associates had abducted her. Sub-Inspector Md Moin Uddin, the investigation officer of the case, had detained the accused Robin Mia and had rescued the girl that very night. According to source at the police station, at 12:15am on January 22, OC Md Ahsan Ullah had recorded the case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act 2000. The case number in the FIR book was 0171713. According to Asad Mia, a police constable had contacted him and asked him to go to the station. When he had reached, the OC had told him to go home and later that night had released Robin. As it turned out, the case page had been torn out of the FIR book and another case, also numbered 0171713, had been lodged on the next page. The plaintiff of the newly registered case was Parvin Aktar of Bhogpara area. OC Ahsan Ullah had said it was a conspiracy against him and denied all allegations. He had even been surprised to see copies of the original FIR.
