The arrestees are Sohel Rizvi Raju, 50, and Muraduzzaman Polash, 46. Raju was the vice-president of Sirajganj Government College Central Students’ Union from Chhatra Dal in 1990s while Polash was a member.
They were arrested by a team of DMP’s intelligence wing with the help of Sirajganj police from SB Fazlul Haque Road (Goshala) and Kalibari Koritola Moholla of the town early on Saturday.
They were named in two fraud cases filed with Shahbagh police, Additional Deputy Commissioner Reaz Uddin Ahmed said. A huge quantity of fake stamps, seals, D/O letters and other related documents were seized from their possessions.
“They took a lot of money from people through such activities,” Reaz added.
The duo were later sent to Dhaka after primary interrogation, Sirajganj’s Additional Superintendent of Police Shahinur Alam Khan said.
