Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury's son Hummam returns home
Hummam was dropped off in front of his residence near Sultana Kamal Women's Complex in Dhanmondi around 3am Thursday. Requesting anonymity, a member of the BNP's media wing confirmed it to the Dhaka Tribune. He went missing on August 3, 2016. His family members claimed that he had been picked up by the Detective Branch (DB).

Hummam was picked up by some unidentified men from the main gate of Dhaka's Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court. His personal secretary Minhaj Uddin Chowdhury Shibli then said that Hummam had been in a white Nissan car when three to four people claiming to be DB members stopped the vehicle and picked him up. They told Hummam that they were picking him up in connection to another case. On October 1, 2013, the International Crimes Tribunal found Hummam’s father and former BNP lawmaker Salauddin guilty of 1971 war crimes and gave him capital punishment. Salauddin was executed at Dhaka Central Jail on November 22 last year. In September last year, Hummam and Salauddin’s wife Farhat Quader Chowdhury were acquitted of the charge of leaking the draft verdict in Salauddin's war crimes case. Four others – Salauddin’s manager Mahbubul Ahsan, Fakhrul’s assistant Mehedi Hasan, and war crimes tribunal’s office staff Faruk Hossain and Nayan Ali – were handed down seven year imprisonment and fined Tk10,000 each. Hummam was earlier arrested in September 2015 in a case filed over attempted murder.
