On February 21, the young victim was tied to a truck and then beaten for four hours for allegedly damaging the wiring inside the CD player on the bus at the Khan Filling Station in the Puthia upazila. The workers finally released the boy in the face of protests from locals. He used to work as a helper on that bus. The victim's father, Hafizur Haq Rahman, filed a case against five accused regarding the incident around 11pm on February 21. Later, BP Paribahan driver Akel Ali and Khan Filling Station employee Nurul Islam were detained.

It was the second torture case to rock Rajshahi’s Puthia upazila inside a week. On February 14, two people were arrested for abusing a 12-year-old student from Tarapur High School after they tied him to a tree and beat him for allegedly stealing a mobile phone SIM card.
