A freedom fighter has succumbed to his injuries after being tortured by a neighbour in Satkhira allegedly over a monetary dispute.
The deceased is Abul Kalam Azad, 70, of the sadar upazila's Ghona Bazar area.
Sadar police OC Firoz Hossain said that Azad's son had filed a case against seven people for the murder.
"We have arrested the accused Mominul Islam, Wadud, Manna Hossain and Md Rony, and are trying to apprehend the others," he told the Dhaka Tribune on Tuesday.
Azad's son Akhtarul Islam said: “Mominul took goods worth over Tk1 lakh from our rod and cement shop in Ghona Bazar but was dillydallying over the payment.
“Mominul physically assaulted my father when he asked him to pay the due amount around 9pm [Monday night]."
Azad died at Satkhira Sadar Hospital around 2:30am on Tuesday.
