Listed yaba peddler killed in ‘turf war’
Law enforcers have recovered the body of a man, who they claimed was a “notorious yaba trader,” from Kolatoli Katapahar area in Cox’s Bazar. He was later identified as Mostafa Ahmed Prokash alias Haji Mofiz, son of Fazlul Huq of Kolatoli area, a most wanted yaba trader of the district. Cox’s Bazar sadar police OC Bakhtiar Uddin Chowdhury said that they had raided the area around 5:30am Friday after being tipped off about a skirmish between two rival gangs of yaba peddlers. “We recovered the body along with yaba pills and locally-made weapons from the spot,” he said. Doctors at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital said that the man had died before he was brought in. Police said that Mostafa had at least six cases filed over yaba smuggling against him.
