In an act of vengeance for refusal of a love proposal, the sexual predators allegedly grabbed the victim on her way to washroom outside her home; forcefully stripped her clothes, and recorded her on a mobile phone camera on February 5 night.
Failing to bear the humiliation, the girl attempted to kill herself on the same night taking poison.
The youths are Samrat Mondol, son of Sridham Mondol of Kandi village; Sajal Biswas, son of Bankim Biswas, and Mithu Basu, son of Nirmal Basu.
The student on Friday told the Dhaka Tribune: “On the night of February 5, I was studying in the veranda and my parents were sleeping inside the house. Samrat, Sajal and Mithu grabbed me when I was going to the washroom outside the home. They covered by mouth and dragged me to the washroom.
“They forcefully stripped my clothes and recorded me with a mobile camera.”
She alleged that Samrat and his accomplices did so as she rejected his love interest.
Since her suicide attempt, the miscreants have been continuously threatening to kill the victim’s family members if they disclose the matter. Her family did not even dare to file any complaint with local police station.
The student was taking the ongoing Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations but has discontinued since the incident.
After taking poison, the girl was rushed to Kotalipara Upazila Health Complex from where she was transferred to Gopalganj General Hospital. After her condition improved, the girl was brought back to the health complex again. She is now undergoing treatment there.
The girl’s father said: “Those rouges are now threatening to upload my daughter’s video on social media and to kill my family members if we report the case to the media or police.
“I have not filed any complaint with local police station due to insecurity. My daughter is not being able to attend her exams. I want justice for my daughter.”
Habibur Rahman Sheikh, a neighbour, said: “Samrat, Sajal and Mithu are known in the village as drug addicts. Samrat had been stalking the girl since long after being refused.”
Kotalipara police station’s Officer-in-Charge (investigation) Md Mostafizur Rahman said: “We are not informed about the matter. If the victim’s family submits any complaint, actions will be taken accordingly.”
