Prisoner en route to court escapes Natore police
The incident took place in a bus of Hanif Paribahan on Wednesday morning. The shackled prisoner, Shamim Ahmed, 24, was able to evade three escorting policemen who fell asleep during the journey, said Aminbazar police outpost In-charge Md Based Miah. Shamim hails from Hugalbari village in Natore Sadar upazila. Police said Natore police had arrested Shamin following an arrest warrant from a Narayanganj court in a murder case filed with Fatullah police station. In the morning, three constables from Natore Sadar police station boarded a bus to produce him before the court. However, the policemen fell asleep while en route, allowing the prisoner to take advantage of the situation. Later, local police immediately carried out drives in different areas of Aminbazar, but their efforts ended in vain. Natore Superintendent of Police Biplob Bijoy Talukder confirmed the incident to the Dhaka Tribune and said; “Departmental action will be taken against the three policemen responsible.”
