An official of the DMP's Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit told the Dhaka Tribune that Hasnat's accounts were seized recently for the sake of investigation.
The CTTC official, wishing not to be named, said investigation officials usually investigate bank account information of any suspected militants.

“We have sent letters to the Bangladesh Bank recently asking them to come up with information related to Hasnat's bank accounts. The bank informed us on Sunday that all his accounts were frozen,” said the CTTC official.
The CTTC official could not confirm if Hasnat has any bank accounts as a director of his father's construction firm Basic Engineering Limited.

The CTTC additional commissioner Monirul Islam also confirmed that the accounts had been frozen.
Meanwhile, another official of the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) of the central bank has confirmed that the unit has instructed the banks to freeze Hasnat's bank account.

However, the official has declined to comment on the amount deposited in those accounts.
Hasnat, a former teacher of North South University, is now in jail for his suspected involvement in Holey Artisan Cafe terror attack on July 1.

He was arrested on August 3 in connection with the attack, the worst in Bangladesh’s history, that killed 24 people including 17 foreigners.
However, Hasnat's family, who accompanied him to the cafe on the day of the attack, claimed he was a victim of circumstances.
