The security forces conducted the drive on Monday noon at Perachara Headman Para in Khagrachari, said an ISPR press release.
According to the release, acting on a tip-off a team of joint forces conducted a raid at 12:00 noon Monday at Perachara Headman Para in the district where an armed group of UPDF was conducting a secret meeting. Sensing presence of the law enforcers who surrounded the UPDF den, several participants of meeting succeeded fleeing the spot while joint forces detained six UPDF members including its military wing Chief Ujjal Sompriti Chakma. Ujjal is also the second-in-command of the secessionist armed party.
Joint forces also recovered a pistol and a rifle along with several mobile sets and TK 16,000 from the UPDF den, said the release.
The detainees have been handed over to Khagrachari Sadar thana and an arms case has been filed in this regard with the police station.
The joint forces’ drive is still going on to detain the UPDF members who fled the scene.
