The intelligence agency will hold a press conference in this connection around 3pm on Monday.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of CID Dhaka Metro (North), Minhazul Islam told the Dhaka Tribune that CID Demra unit arrested four members of “Jinn-er Badshah” on August 21.
He said: “The detainees are member of different gangs of such swindlers –based in Gaibandha – trick people by offering them fake information about alleged valuable assets in exchange for money; while reluctance to pay money to the ‘Jinn-er Badshah’ often ended in threats and intimidations over phone.”
“Frauds posing as ‘Jinn-er Badshah’ or the king of supernatural beings have been busy throughout Ramadan exploiting the religious sentiments of Muslims by duping them and demanding money with late-night phone calls,” the official added.
The official said: “We have arranged a press conference in CID headquarters around 3pm and detail information about the arrestees would be provided in the conference.”
