Officer-in-Charge Hipjur Alam Munshi of Godagari police station in Rajshahi lost his Facebook account to hackers on Tuesday morning.
The hackers posted status and photos on Facebook that referred to the PM in a disrespectful manner.
Soon afterwards, his friends found his profile littered with despicable remarks about local MP Omar Faruq.
The OC initially faced the wrath of the people until he reported his failure to log in to the account.
OC Munshi reported the incident to the Rajshahi police superintendent immediately.
“I came to know of it when my colleagues told me to check my Facebook account. I tried to log in, but surprisingly I could not,” he said.
Police Superintendent Moazzem Hossain Bhuiyan told the Dhaka Tribune that they had forwarded the matter to the Police Headquarters.
He said: “Responsible officers contacted with the Facebook authorities regarding the issue and they restricted the account around 10am on Tuesday.”
He claimed that anti-government groups might be involved in the incident.
