Tangail court has denied bail to Tangail-3 (Ghatail) MP Amanur Rahman Khan Rana who is the defendant in the murder case of Faruq Ahmed.
The decision was passed by Additional District Judge Abul Mansur Mia on Sunday.
The defendant was represented by his advocate Baki Mia with an entourage of lawyers.
Additional Public Prosecutor Munirul Islam Khan and the plaintiff's advocates Joaherul Islam and S Akbar Khan argued against the bail plea along with a number of lawyers.
MP Amanur Rahman Khan Rana surrendered to Tangail court on September 18.
He was taken to Kashimpur prison in Gazipur on September 19 and appealed for bail on the 26th of the same month.
The bullet-riddled body of Faruq Ahmed was found near his house in Collegepara area of Tangail on the night of January 18, 2013.
His wife Nahar Ahmed filed a case with Tangail police three days after the incident. Two criminals confessed to the murder and affiliated Amanur Rahman Khan Rana and his three brothers in the murder.
The police investigated and prepared a charge sheet against MP Rana, his three brothers, and 14 other individuals. The case is now with the Tangail additional court.
MP Rana had appealed for bail from the High Court previously and was denied.
