Campaigner for Badrul’s punishment threatened

Fazilatunnesa, spokesperson for the campaign that protests the attack on Khadiza and demanded punishment for Badrul was threatened to be killed over the phone on Thursday. The threat was delivered via an anonymous call to her mother’s phone around Thursday noon. One of Khadiza’s classmates was threatened and she was allotted police protection on her way to an admission exam. Fazilatunnesa told the Dhaka Tribune that she was told to step away from the movement immediately. Fazilatunnesa is an HSC graduate from Sylhet Government Women’s College (SGWC). She has been admitted to Dhaka University. Assistant Professor Jillur Rahman of SGWC confirmed the incident. He said that a number of students along with Fazilatunnesa were threatened over phone calls and SMS. He added that law enforcement authorities were duly informed about this incident. Shah Poran OC Shahjalal Munshi testified to the veracity of the matter. He said: “We are actively looking into the matter as we speak. We have also accorded police protection to an examinee when her parents requested us.”
