The investigation of the cases has been handed over to CID and PBI at the instructions of the police headquarters
Mufti Maulana Ragib Ahsan, managing director (MD) of Ehsan Group, a controversial multipurpose company in Pirojpur, and his three brothers Maulana Abul Bashar, Md Khairul Islam and Mufti Mahmudul Hasan have been remanded in custody for seven days.
When the accused were produced before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court in Pirojpur on Tuesday (September 21st), Judge Iqbal Masood ordered them to be remanded in custody.
Four of the five fraud cases against Ragib, Abul Bashar, Khairul and Mahmudul will be investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and one by the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).
Pirojpur Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Administration) Mollah Azad Hossain confirmed the matter to reporters.

Monirul Islam, an investigating officer in the case, said Ragib Ahsan and his brothers were taken to court again on Tuesday after seven days of questioning on a court order in a case of embezzlement and fraud.
Although some misleading information was obtained from the accused in remand, it is not possible to disclose it at the moment for the sake of investigation.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pirojpur Sadar Police Station, AJM Masuduzzaman Milu said: “Haruna Rashid, a school-teacher from Mulgram Rayerkathi area of Sadar Upazila, filed a case with the Pirojpur Sadar Police Station against the four brothers for embezzling Tk 91.15 crore”.
Md Hemayet Uddin from Kumarkhali area became the plaintiff and filed a case with Sadar Police Station alleging embezzlement of Tk 2 crore 57 lakh 40 thousand. On the same day, Md. Shikarpur area of Sadar upazila. Abdul Malek filed a case alleging embezzlement of Tk 2,75,200.
Md Monir Hossain from Tushkhali area under Mothbaria upazila, became the plaintiff and filed a case alleging embezzlement and fraud of Tk 3,39,200. Besides, Abul Hossain of Chhotashaula village of the same upazila filed a case alleging embezzlement of Tk 17 lakh 50 thousand.
Pirojpur Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Administration) Mollah Azad Hossain said RAB arrested Maulana Ragib Ahsan and his brother Abul Bashar from a house in the capital on the evening of September 9.
Pirojpur police arrested two other brothers Mahmudul and Khairul from their house at Khalishakhali in Pirojpur.
The brothers were sent to the court on Monday and placed on remand.
Magistrate Court Judge, Mohammad Mohiuddin, granted him a seven-day remand.
