DGHS driver Abdul Malek was arrested on September 20 last year
A Dhaka court on Sunday accepted the charge sheet against a driver of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) for his alleged involvement in dealing illegal firearms and ammunition.
Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of Dhaka Special Tribunal-1 passed the order after scrutinizing case dockets and other relevant documents in the case. The tribunal also fixed February 28 for the hearing on the charges against the lone accused in the case.

On September 20 last year, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Malek, 63, in Dhaka's Kamarpara area for his alleged involvement in various criminal activities. They recovered a foreign made pistol, a magazine, five bullets, and counterfeit notes worth Tk1.50 lakh from his possession.
The battalion filed two cases against the DGHS driver with Turag police station, under the Firearms and Special Powers Acts.
On January 10, Turag police station Sub-inspector Rubel Sheikh, investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet against the accused to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court in Dhaka, showing 11 people as prosecution witnesses.
